Today I went to Wayne’s Coffee in Gothenburg it was Grey and Wet outside but the main shopping streets were busy. A bit of unpleasant weather doesn’t stop the Swedes but it did make me feel I needed a decent Coffee.
Wayne’s on Östra Hamngatan is huge and…. DARK. Black and beige walls, a large black counter, black chairs, Dark wooded tables, brown wooden floor, dark grey doors, black painted pipes, electric panels and air conditioning vents. The lighting was dimmed to hangover level and just like many places in Sweden the Staff had an all black uniform. Somewhat uncharacteristically for Sweden and to complete the picture all the Staff working here had Black or Dark Brown Hair though that probably wasn’t in Wayne’s business plan.
The music was barely audible, more of a background sound that I found impossible to identify.
Most importantly my Coffee was really good. 39kr of caffeinated pleasure. A blend that pleases with a strength that satisfies.
After drinking this I felt sufficiently boosted to go back out and face the gloom which by now resembled the scene from a Nordic Noir Drama.
